A principal focus of our laboratory is the study of the mechanisms of acute and chronic pain sensations resulting from inflammation, injury, diseases, and functional pain disorders. In addition to cutaneous pain, we especially focused on visceral and muscle pain sensations which have different characteristics from cutaneous one.
We also study the underlying mechanisms of chronic pain symptom using the animal models of neuropathy.
Our ongoing projects are as follows:
- Mechanisms of inflammation and neuropathic pain occurred in various parts of the body such as skin, viscera, muscle, joints, etc.
- Development of novel animal model of functional pain disorders such as Functional dyspepsia and myofascial pain syndrome.
- Neuroanatomy and physiology of somatic and visceral pain systems.
